General Responsibilities

Members of The Resolution Roundtable are responsible for various duties throughout their time with the program. As a initiative started on the principle of peaceful sharing of opinions, we expect each and every member to uphold our program’s mission:

  • Demonstrate a mature outlook when discussing policy issues, respectfully engaging with diverse perspectives
  • Create/Contribute to a well-researched articles on assigned law, public policy, or social problems every other week
  • Support claims with credible evidence and thoughtful analysis rather than purely emotional arguments
    We are not trying to discredit how some people may feel towards things on a purely emotional level. You are allowed to include emotional arguments if there is some personal connection but please do not argue an entire essay based on purely emotions. 
  • Review and provide constructive feedback on fellow contributors’ work
  • Maintain intellectual honesty by acknowledging counterarguments and limitations in one’s position
  • Participate in group discussions that deepen understanding of complex issues
  • Commit to continuous learning and the refinement of ideas through research and dialogue

Code of Ethics

AI should be used to supplement, not to supplant, writing ability. Appropriate uses of AI including using it to brainstorm resources, to explain dense academic materials, and as a research tool. Editors will not use AI to edit. If used for research, AI should be properly cited. If questioned, writers will have a chance to show evidence of their authentic work. 

Any words that are not the creation of the writer’s should be placed within quotation marks and properly attributed. Non direct quotations should be paraphrased and attributed. Writers should take care to double check the validity of their sources by cross referencing. In the quest to prove an argument, writers should never willfully misquote or misrepresent the evidence provided by a source. 

Corrections should be reported to the Board immediately. These corrections will be taken seriously and put into action as soon as possible and the mistake will be publicly acknowledged and corrected. 

All images used should be properly cited. Unless permitted by the creator, images may not be modified by artificial intelligence or through any other means than what the creator intended. 

All writing should be factual, logical, and evidence based. Writers should avoid using ad hominem attacks, arguments that address subjective matters of character rather than substantive argumentation. 

If you are caught violating any clauses of this Code, you have the right to appeal to the Board, who will then vote on your removal.
